Kostis has a long track record in Investment Banking, Venture Capital, Private Equity, Project Finance, and Fund Management having managed investment portfolios of private and institutional investors, such as Bregal Energy, a pioneer global private investor in Renewable Energy Infrastructure and Cleantech.
He started his career in the Investment Banking division of Lombard Odier, one of the oldest and largest private banks in Switzerland, concentrating on Corporate Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets and Debt Advisory services for mid-caps in the DACH region.
He accompanied Bregal Energy throughout its build-up phase and expansion to a multi-billion global cleantech investor. He was responsible for processes build-up, investment strategy, investment management, deal flow, target evaluation and portfolio-related transactions. Kostis was involved in key investment and portfolio coaching processes of leading global sustainability players, such as the financing, scale-up and IPO listing of two of the world’s largest solar manufacturers.
He has held various board positions in high-growth companies, mainly providing his expertise in strategy, business development, impact readiness, and financing. He is a member of the investor jury of Climate Kic and the TBLI Group, a senior advisor to Ashoka, the largest global network of social entrepreneurs, and a founding member of Drawdown Switzerland, the “most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming”.
He has been invited as a speaker and panelist in numerous international events and conferences, published articles in electronic and print media and acted as co-author in industry books and publications. He is co-organizer of the 1st and the 2nd international investor energy access conference (Zurich / London), and Chief Editor for the sustainability and impact investing specials of the Market Magazine, a leading Swiss investor magazine. He is a guest lecturer for the Finance MBA program of the EPFL’s Swiss Finance Institute, and has held guest lectures for the Impact MBA Program of the University of St. Gallen and the Sustainable Finance MBA Program of the University of Geneva.
His professional ethics and values have been shaped through his early involvement in the family business, a company active in the B2B and B2C sustainable consumer products segment in Greece. He got his Masters degree in Economics & Finance from the University of Zurich with magna cum laude, is Swiss and Greek, and lives in Zurich and Geneva.
