Quadia sells Cavendish Kinetics to Qorvo

Quadia is pleased to announce the sale of its portfolio company Cavendish Kinetics, headquartered in San Jose, USA, to strategic corporate investor Qorvo.

Cavendish Kinetics (CK) is the leading provider of high-performance Radio Frequency Micro Electromechanical Systems (RF MEMS) components for smartphones, mobile infrastructure, and Internet of Things (IoT). The pioneering technology enables better connection quality by increasing the amount of data that can be pushed to handsets without investing in network infrastructure.

Quadia alongside investors such as Tallwood Venture Capital, Wellington Partners, Celtic House Venture Partners, and Qualcomm, backed Cavendish Kinetics with an investment in 2013, enabling the company to strengthen its sales and marketing operations and increase its working capital. Since Quadia’s investment, the company has shipped over 35 million units and today counts as its clients ZTE, Oppo, Gionee, Coolpad, Xiaomi, and Samsung.

Sandrine Pfister, Impact and Financial Manager at Quadia comments: “The impact creation is largely attributed to far less CO2 consumed by smartphones and other devices thanks to the energy efficiency and significant power savings obtained. Cavendish Kinetics’ products improve battery life by 40% with more efficient antenna function, thus reducing energy use, diminishing C02 emission and creating higher-quality phone calls. There are more than 1.5 billion smartphones sold each year, with 5 billion people having a mobile device worldwide. Addressing the entire smartphone market, CK’s products could save up to 280 million kWh/year. The next generation of products will further improve smartphone performance and effectively double power savings.”
